Drowning Arts was created on March 4th of 2007 by Cassie Jahn and Phil Smith. The name Drowning Arts has no official meaning, although many people have taken it different ways and you can take it however you like. I prefer to think that because of technology the traditional arts such as portraits and painting and such are becoming less and less. It started out as a double website. One half was the same as it is now and the other half was productions. The productions half was run by Phil Smith and it included gaming videos mostly and some graphic design. The productions half was cut in October of 2007 because it was too unprofessional for the whole of the website. Since then many things have happened. We have change the original URL. It was www.drowning-arts.com and now we have removed the hyphen because it was easier for people to find this way. Also we have changed our layout into a permanent one - The one you see now. Drowning Arts now has a RSS feed that anyone can sign up for free - look in the bottom right hand corner of any page - or you can get newsletters sent to your email of updates at DA - Just look to the left and you will see a signup sheet! In doing so we have moved the website into a more profound area and have recently been getting more and more commissioned work. Also DA now is doing an annual poetry contest which is completed by making a book. The winner of the contest gets a free copy. To buy the book click here or go to: http://www.lulu.com/content/2226738. OR enter next year. Each contest will start in December or January and will cost only $1 for residents in the USA (for other countries please send an email because you can still enter!) The contest will end each year on Drowning Arts' Birthday - March 4th. If you would like an email sent to you when the contest is starting sign up for the DA newsletter to the left. In February of 2008 Drowning Arts began a website where artists of all kinds can join together to show off their work. This website is called PD or Project Display and it is free to anyone who wants to join! Just go to www.drowningarts.ning.com
Of course feel free to look at our pictures - sign our guestbook - and if you have any questions just send an email!
